This picture was taken about 1 hour before the Yule Parlor Parade started. Notice the tapered, mahogany mailbox post matches the same angles as the column on the front porch. The Brazilian pepper tree provides a nice canopy over the walkway.

This mailbox is hand-hammered copper sitting atop a Honduran mahogany, tapered post. The taper matches the same tapered angles as the columns on the house. I could not find numbers that would contrast with the dark post so I made these out of iridescent glass with a copper foiled border.

This is a close-up of the front entry. Most architecturally interesting parts of the house can be seen here; copper gutters, tapered columns, mahogany doors, three-light windows, sculpted rafter tails. Also note that all dark brown wood is stained redwood with square-head, copper nails used around window and door frames.

The tapered column matches the mailbox taper. Copper gutters and a copper peacock sconce add to the Craftsman feel. The front door is solid mahogany and weighs in at 150 pounds with a stained glass window I made myself.

When the door was made, I asked for the window frame to be removable so I could change out the glass at will. Joe Madden, of Madden Millworks in San Pedro, CA, came through with an ingenious design allowing me to make this stained glass and insert it almost two years after he made the door. The peacock lantern is form Old California Lantern in Orange, CA.

These rafter tails were all custom-made on site out of redwood. They were all stained by brush to give the look you see.

This roll-up garage door is made of mahogany and weighs in at 400 pounds.

The garage door was made in four panels to facilitate roll-up. The theme of three can be seen in the door and windows.

This view of the garage door shows the grain in the mahogany. I wanted a brushed, not sprayed, look so it really looked hand done. The door is South facing and faded a lot since installation. I had it sanded, stained, and clear-coated a few months ago. It took 3 weeks.

This cedar gate ties in nicely with the rest of the house. It was made by Charles Prowell Woodworks. There are ebony accents and copper caps for extra detail. The hardware is a Euro latch with a working handle on both sides.

This entire walkway around the garage was built using Golden Buckskin flagstone for the walkway and cultured stone for the wall.

The side of the house is just as important as the front and rear. Here, you can see that both sides are lined with stone. The cedar sheds on the right blend in perfectly with the house across the aisle.

Two side-by-side, cedar sheds keep my tools out of the way. The sheds fit perfectly in the space against the wall.
