The hot tub enclosure. Steps will wrap around the curved part. See the slope. Some dirt will be brought in to flatten it out some.

The hot tub slides in and will be about 1 foot higher than the block wall. On either side, stairs will go down to the lawn. A lot of stone work has been done so far. You can see the remnants on the ground. We're still trying to figure out what to do with the transition from the stairs to the wall on the right.

You can see how much we lowered the grade. Now I won't hit my head on the roof. We have to dig 6 feet down only 2 feet away from the utility pole.

The brick wall will be removed and a true retaining wall will be built in its place. The utility pole needs to be anchored before digging. The back patio surface is complete. We used Golden Buckskin flagstone.

The brick wall in the front yard is being removed to make way for a new retaining wall. Removing dirt on the North side of the house using a pick and a shovel. Back-breaking work! The telephone pole needs to be anchored before we dig the corner out.

Looking over the hot tub at the north wall. The only tree left in the backyard is the orange tree. We need to anchor the telephone pole prior to digging the dirt out around it for a retaining wall. Removal of the old brick wall starts so we can install a real retaining wall.

Forming up the retaining wall. Rich is verifying the depth of the hole. It has to go 18" into the bedrock.

As you can see we are 2 feet into the bedrock. Rich wants these pictures to prove the depth in case the inspector asks.

Front yard retaining wall. The corner of the wall will be dug out after the sides are poured. This is to minimize stress on the telephone pole.
